Clients use miniature figurines to create stories that represent a person’s inner world. This can help the client to become aware of unknown past or current challenges in life. Sand tray therapy is a safe, protected space where clients can move toward healing and the exploration of memories and experiences that may be too uncomfortable or difficult to express or talk about.

This can be practically important for clients struggling with complex trauma. Sand tray therapy offers such a protected space. Through the unconscious and intuition Sand tray therapy engages the mind-body connection to help clients work through trauma in a nonverbal manner. The scenes created in a sand tray reflect the person’s past and present inner thoughts, feelings, and hardships. The benefits of Sand tray therapy are endless, supporting the decrease in anxiety and depression, anger and aggression, improving low self-esteem and a better understanding of self.

One parent to One Child
For children, communication can be challenging. Relational Play therapy allows children to communicate through play. From Sue C. Bratton and Garry L. Landreth’s evidence-based Filial Therapy, Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT); you and your child will embark on a 10-session treatment plan.
The therapy model fully involves one parent as the therapeutic change agent in their child’s care and treatment. Acknowledging the parent as the expert on the wellbeing of their child. The parent and therapist work one on one to develop a new relational skill set. The parent then implements their newly learned techniques at home with their child.
The parent is closely supported by a therapist to encourage insight and understanding in how to respond and react to your child. 30 minutes a week is all that is needed to start making substantial changes in the relationship between the parent and your child.
